Can I use my MogoCard at gas stations?

Last Updated: Nov 29, 2018 02:38PM PST

Although most gas stations accept prepaid cards at the pump, not all do.

If you're at a gas station and decide to pay at the pump, we recommend you pay close attention to questions that appear at the pump because they apply a pre-authorization amount to your card. This amount is potentially larger than the total amount of money you'll end up pumping in gas. If the gas station allows you to key in a pre-authorization amount, try to enter an estimate as close to what your vehicle typically takes to fill up.

You will need to make sure you have enough money on your MogoCard to cover the total pre-authorization amount. In situations where the pre-authorization is more than the total cost of the gas you pumped, you may have to go a few days before the gas station returns the unused pre-authorization amount.

At some gas stations you may receive two push notifications. The first will be for a pre-authorization amount that you will not be charged for. The second notification is for the actual amount you pumped and will be charged for. Don’t worry! You'll only be charged once and you can verify this in your transaction history.

Mogo Visa* Platinum Prepaid Card is issued by Peoples Trust Company pursuant to licence by Visa Int.
